Thanks for using Markdown Pro! This page covers common questions and how to get help.

Getting started

Frequently asked questions

Markdown Pro isn't rendering my local file. Local files require permission. Go to chrome://extensions, click "Details" on Markdown Pro, and turn on "Allow access to file URLs."

My document shows a banner instead of rendering automatically. That's a setting. Open Settings (the gear on a rendered page, or the Settings tab in the popup) and turn off "Show banner first," or turn on "Auto-render .md files."

The table of contents button isn't showing. The table of contents only appears for documents with three or more headings. On wide windows it shows as a left sidebar; the ≡ TOC button toggles it.

How do I save my edits? Browsers don't allow extensions to write directly to your local files, so use "Download .md" (or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+S) in the editor to save your changes as a file.

How do I export to PDF? Click the Print button on a rendered document (or in the editor) and choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog.

What do I get with Pro? Pro ($1.99/month) unlocks: copy as rich text (HTML clipboard), the right-click "Preview as Markdown" option, HTML export from the editor, custom CSS themes, and Mermaid diagram rendering.

How do I upgrade, manage, or cancel my subscription? Open the popup → Account tab → "Get Pro," or use the "Get Pro" button anywhere it appears. To manage or cancel, use "Manage subscription" in the Account tab. Billing is handled securely by ExtensionPay (powered by Stripe).

I paid but Pro features are still locked. Open the popup → Account or Settings and the status should refresh automatically. If it doesn't, use "Restore purchase" on the settings page, then reload the extension at chrome://extensions.

Does Markdown Pro work offline? Yes. Everything runs locally. The only time it connects to the internet is when you choose to view or manage your Pro subscription (extensionpay.com).

Does it send my documents anywhere? No. Your Markdown content never leaves your computer. There is no tracking and no analytics.
